Contemporary Abstract Painting Holidays/ Tours in Stornoway

What will we experience?

Day one: After meeting and greeting in the morning together we will visit the harbour and various local places in Stornoway. Trying to get a sense of place you will be encouraged to begin to explore some of my initial techniques looking closely at our immediate environment. We will also spend time in the local gallery to see the local work and subject matter and the local  Museum Nan Eileen to try to gain an insight into the history of the area.

Calanais standing stonesOn Day 2: we will have a full and intensive day exploring the Isle of Lewis. Travelling by minibus we will visit the Callanish Standing Stones. The Stones are one of the most significant and important megalithic complexes in Europe.
We will have tea at Island Arts, Tigh Na Braich, Balallan, take lots of photographs and gather lots of  sensory inspiration.

Days 3/4/5:The practical days will reflect on our own personal influences and inspirations from the previous days experiences. I will take you through techniques that awaken the senses and lead you through mixed media, colour layering, printing etc..  You will need to be prepared to experiment and investigate and to push your boundaries.
